We don't have a large or elaborate garden. First of all, the property we're renting is well-shaded. Secondly, this gardening thing is something I'm learning slowly. Nature takes time and there are so many other enjoyable things to do while she is left to her devices. Anyhow, the bulbs I planted 3 years ago are still coming up (some of them anyway), and the pachysandra I planted to fill in the holes last summer is blooming. This is the best our garden gets.
However, what we lack in flora is more than made up for by fauna. This winter and spring, we've been hosting some regular visitors at the feeder: downy woodpeckers, black-capped chickadees, cardinals, titmice, and juncos. Just this month I saw an Eastern wood peewee for the first time.
This is a crappy photo, but the subject is a little camera-shy. He loves suet. Fortunately, we have a very large bag of it in the back of the fridge.
One more thing about the garden: tomatoes on the way!
